Quick question for the wonderful members here at Donkhard:

How many of you have played, and if you have not already, plan on playing in the WSOP Main Event at least once in your lifetime? I promised myself even if I have to put up the full buy-in that I'll play before I turn 25. I'm turning 23 this July and the wheels are already in motion for the eventual trip to Vegas, as I've started cutting back spending and might even sell my car to further expedite the ascention to the $10,000 buy in ...

The 2009 World Series of Poker No Limit Hold Em Championship Event starts tomorrow (July 3rd, 2009)!!!!

I am so excited for it. I will be following all of the updates very closely on the WSOP website. I am very curious as to how many entrants there will be this year. Personally, I think that there will be more than in 2008, but not as many as there was in 2006, when Jamie Gold won it all. Who else is super stoked for the main event? and who will be looking at the updates online?

Nice to see that Phil Ivey won a bracelet at the WSOP... His 6th. It came in the 2-7 Lowball Draw event. He only won around 96K, but I guess the pros consider that particular game as needing the most skill to play well. It had a lot of top players in it-so Kudos to Ivey. He is reported to have made somewhere between 3 and 10 million in prop bets for winning a WSOP bracelet this year.

It looks like we couldn't get much of a conversation going with this past year's WSOP in Vegas...but anyone watching the WSOPE Main Event? Of course we all know that John Juanda won it all after playing 22 hours of heads up. It was interesting to see how many pros were being flanked by other pros - a considerably smaller field than in Vegas but a largely pro field.

But I wonder...how many heads up hands will ESPN show? And has anyone noticed the dealers there? No offense but I can deal better ...

It looks like the WSOP section isn't getting much attention, so I figured I'd start a new thread in hopes it might spark some discussion.

Has anyone been following the 2008 Main Event coverage? It's too bad ESPN's only covering a very small amount of plays. Last week was the first coverage with the first hour being Day 1a and the second hour Day 1b. So I guess, tonight we'll see Day 1c and 1d - am I smart or what

I think the most memorable part was Day 1a (I think) when the river came ...

So how do you guys feel about the Final Table of the WSOP being held off for a few months so they can air it live? Personally, I think it sucks. Chances are they will put it on pay per view even though it is free to watch in person. And to think of all that could happen in a couple of months. Wow, bold change.
