I loved these books. Mainly because they taught me how to be patient, solid, and realize that ring games are not a place to try to felt someone every single hand, like in a tournament.
I loved the sections on mixed games really. Brunson's and Harman's sections on Hold Em are nice, but I already knew most of the stuff. Doyle's section taught me to be a little looser and a little more solid.

anyone else really like these ones?

I've read few few excerpts on it from the first chapter, but not enough to form a solid opinion, and was wondering if it was a read worth continuing. I find Hansen's wildly aggressive ATC (Any Two Cards) approach to the game fascinating. About the only times I (quite ineffectively) run that approach is on tilt , on a gear change to mix up play, when the entire table's playing overly tight (for example: in tournament bubble ...

With all the internet software out there, it's hard not to be put under the microscope by other players.

You may have a horrible ROI (return on investment) or you could

have a very decent one, The point is although you can gain insight on a

decent number of players. However sometimes it is a horrible way to

gauge your poker skill or chances on becoming a internet Pro.

The video was not super detailed like many of the videos I've seen, but the advice was rock solid.

Right now I'm going back over all the old videos I have and taking notes to refresh my game. I've noticed that my winning style of play has deteriorated badly, and it's about time to re-adjust my game. Sklanksy's video already reminded ...

Fooled by Randomness

This book does not have the word poker in it. BUT hear me out. If you like books that are in depth of the human psyche and that could relate to poker BIG TIME, I suggest this one. Most things in life are about luck. Peoples incomes, hurricanes, natural disasters, 911...etc. These are all random events or outcomes in time. You heard of "being there at the right time, at the right place" This applies to almost everything. Playing mostly online, I realized this ...

I haven't opened this one up in a while, but Phil Gordon's Little Green Book has got to be the most memorable poker book I've read. It more or less serves as a poker manual, although it doesn't read like a manual. Phil Gordon's signature sarcasm runs abundant and makes the book an interesting read.

He covers just about everything there is to know about Hold 'em, and manages to do it all in a relatively few number of pages. He thoroughly covers the different ways to play different hands, preflop ...

I can't quite say I'd recommend reading this book if you want to learn strategies or looking to expand your knowledge of poker. In fact, this book is an autobiography, but what this book has to offer is providing an insight into the experiences of a full time/professional poker player.
Heads-Up Comeback from Short

Check out some of the videos featured on the new Donkhard Poker Video section. The one about the jackass putting out his sack of bud as a bet in a freakin' casino is my favorite. Makes me laugh just thinking about it. What a f%$@ing boob!

I just read a review of a relatively new book called "Winning Poker Tournaments One Hand at a Time, Vol. I."

Here is a link to the review: http://www.pokernews.com/news/2008/11/poker-book-review-winning-poker-tournaments-volume-1.htm

Sounds like a good one, especially for online players. Let me know if you have read it and have an opinion.

Well this is the book that probably got me started on the way to playing good tight aggressive poker in tournaments its basically a beginners guide that helps familarize you with tournaments and the basics of how to play in larger mtt tournies. Its a great place to start and once you master the skills inside you can just order volume 2 for a more in depth view of tournament play and how to bluff and when to bluff and such. Good reading over all I recommend both vol 1 and 2. Should your think ...

If you want to read a book that is very humourous and very informative get this. I have never laughed so hard. He is also the author of the million seller "Playing to Win" gaming series.

A-Call the bet and look for a ...
