Converting an old account to rakeback is possible, but often there are obstacles and not all of them are able to be converted. Each of the poker rooms has their own set of rules as far as which accounts they are willing to convert, and some of them can be pretty picky.

Setting up a new account for rakeback sure-fire.

Now I cannot tell anyone that they should open up another account on a site if they already have one. Of course, there are loop-holes.

Again, I can't endorse loop-holing either, but I'll just go ahead and just say some unrelated stuff here in the same post and allow everyone to do their own math and make their own calls as they would.

While it is against the TOS of just about every online poker site for users to have multiple accounts, many sites allow multiple users from the same household.

Here's a little story about... uh... someone I know. We'll call him Don Key.

Don had a poker account with no rakeback on Poker Site A. His spouse, roommate, parent, sibling, child, or whoever he lived with at the time did not have an account on Site A. So he opened a new rakeback account in his wife's name with her credit card (with her permission, of course!). When Don wanted to play poker, he simply logged into Mrs. Key's account so that they'd get rakeback.

I also know another guy, we'll call him T. Bigg, who had a poker account on Poker Site X that he had never deposited on. When he discovered rakeback, he just opened a new account on Site X for rakeback and made his first deposit there. After opening the new account, he only played on the new one and no longer logged into the old one (the one he never deposited on), so as not to raise any flags.

While the above stories are true, I have changed the names to protect the guilty.

I need to re-iterate that I am not endorsing or recommending these methods. I am just reflecting here on some methods that have worked for people.

I myself used to play on a certain poker site (one of those sites that banned US players). I was actually able to open 2 real money accounts on that site. I wasn't cheating or anything like that. I simply opened the 2nd account because it had been so long since I had played that I could not remember my login info, e-mail address, password, anything. I had switched banks since opening the first account, so I now had a new credit card and was able to deposit with a different card on a 2nd account! I thought it seemed a little dangerous. Someone less scrupulous than I could exploit such a system. But when I play poker, I don't cheat. I play for the glory of winning 1st, the prize money 2nd.

Anyhow, take from my little rant what you like. And good luck to you at the tables! king
