Guinness World Record Attempt!

Post by Not Like Me on Sat Jul 18, 2009 4:07 pm

Currently Pokerstars and Full Tilt Poker are dueling each other for a Guinness World Record - Largest poker tournament ever!

Information:

Pokerstars - July 19th, 2009 - $1 buy in - $100,000 guaranteed in prizes
- Running at 14:10 ET (Pokerstars time)
- Currently 43,500 players registered, expect this number to skyrocket closer to game time
- Not sure if there is a maximum number of players
- Also not sure if pros are competing in the event

Full Tilt - July 19th, 2009 - $5 buy in - $500,000 guaranteed in prizes
- Running at 15:05 ET (Full Tilt time)
- Currently 40,000 players registered, maximum number of entrants is 50,000
- A plethora of 'red name' pros competing in the event, I last counted at least 70.
- Seating will take up to 15 minutes at the beginning of the tournament.

I'm registered for both tournaments and I know Nick is registered for the Full Tilt one as well. Join in the fun tomorrow with us or simply give some encouragement from the rail. Both tournaments will be long and arduous, a grueling test of mental capacity and patience. I'm looking forward to the both of them, and I'll post my results once they have completed.

Also looking forward to being a share-holder of a Guinness World Record! Razz

I really wish I could be in the FTP record breaker tournament, but my schedule just wont allow it. Good luck though! Wouldnt that be cool if you won!

I'm ITM right now on the full tilt one, with about half of the chip average... let's see if I can make it further!

Wow, right after posting in this thread, I got KK and was all in against JJ. the flop was x J x and I wanted to jump off of a bridge, but then, a miraculous turn.. a king! doubled up there. Very next hand, I get AK, and got even more than a double up, and now i'm wayyy above average!

Well, I got out around 1,200th. It was a very disappointing beat, but I did manage to make $40!

Very good showing Nic! That was an astronomical field to play against. I wanted to play in both of those in the worst way... but work dictated otherwise. Being ITM in that field shows me you are learning more patience. Keep it up Nic... bankroll is a lot sweeter now!
