Your start in poker

Post by NicolasWSOP on Mon Dec 07, 2009 9:44 pm

How did everyone here get into the game of poker?

I started playing when I was around eight or nine years old. I played five card draw with my dad and we would bet with legos, lol.

So, what about you guys? Any interesting or funny stories to tell?

Started watching it on TV here and there with the big poker boom after Moneymaker/Raymer won the WSOP in their respective years, then some close friends ended up having home games at least twice a week. At first I just sat around and watched but eventually I started giving it a try, and the rest as they say, is history.

I really can't remember that far back. I think I learned the game on the Male camping trip my family use to have every year. My dad and his 8 brothers and all there sons would go to the lake for 2 weeks for fishing and camping. Would play poker every night between running the trot lines usually 2 hours of playing and 1 hour of checking and re-baiting and then back to poker again. We usually stayed up all night and slept in the day time. Didn't start playing Texas Holdem till about 10 years ago thou. Played my first time in a yahoo league for funny money and help my team take home the title for 2 years straight when I found out you could play for real money at poker rooms on the computer. Started at Absolute poker and have been playing everywhere else since.
