Here is a good article written by Lou Krieger about the recent up and down swings of Full Tilt Poker's most mysterious high stakes poker player, the enigmatic Isildur1.

Wednesday, December 16, 2009

Easy Come, Easy Go Hastings,+Brian
Brian Hastings, (pictured above), took $4.2 million in an overnight-heads-up,
high-stakes poker match against Isildur1, nearly breaking him in the
process.

Isildur1, the enigmatic Swede—no one
knows his real identity for sure—burst onto the online poker scene in a
ball of fire about two months ago, winning millions of dollars in a
relatively short period of time in heads-up matches against some of the
best players in the world, including Phil Ivey, Brian Townsend, Tom
“Durrrr” Dwan, Patrik Antonius, and others who regularly play at the
nosebleed stakes tables on Full Tilt Poker.

But when you gamble that high, play his style of poker, it’s only a matter of
time until the variance swings the other way and you’re busted. While
there was lots of speculation as to who would wind up busting Isildur1,
no one seemed to light on college student Brian Hastings. But that’s
just what happened when Hastings lit up the Swede for $4.2 million in
one longish session of heads-up, $500-$1,000 pot-limit Omaha.

No two ways about it, Hastings worked him over completely. When Hastings
was thinking of quitting, Isildur1’s frustration was on display in the
in the chat window:

Isildur1: u know how lucky u are ?
Brian Hastings: yes i know
Isildur1: i can promise this is the worst
Brian Hastings: ill give you 30 more min if you want
Isildur1: luck anyone had
Brian Hastings: but im rly tired
Isildur1: k 30 mins more
Isildur1: take my last $$
Isildur1: i dont want

Hastings agreed to play an additional half-hour, but actually played nearly an
hour longer and took even more money from his opponent.

Isildur1 had a scattered record in his high-stakes games. Most of his
winnings—estimated at $5 to $6 million—came from Tom Dwan, with smaller
wins against David Benyamine, Haseeb Qureshi, and jungleman12 which
were all approximately in the half-million dollar range.
Best estimates had him losing $3 million to Phil Ivey, $2 million to Patrik Antonius, and $1 million to Brian Townsend.

But Isildur1 still had some money because he cashed out against Hastings
with $450,000 in hand. When he returned to the tables earlier this
week, he dropped down in stakes and lost another $216,000 to Cole
South.

So the mystery Swede probably has
about a quarter million dollars remaining, and will have to rebuild his
bankroll before confronting the high-stakes tables once again.

Meanwhile, the big net loser in the past two month’s action is Tom Dwan, who wound
up transferring $6 million through the Swede to Ivey, Antonius, and
Townsend. The big winner, of course, is Brian Hastings, courtesy of his
$4.2 million overnight haul. Nice work when you can get it.
