New Online Poker Site Could Be a Scam
Poker players beware.
The following issue was brought to my attention by Donkhard member fishinchipz. I've done a little reading up on it. I have my own opinions on the matter but I'll allow each to form there own.
But since this particular subject seems to be causing quite a major buzz around the online poker community, I'll assume it's something you'd like to be aware of, if you're not already:
An overwhelming number of online poker players either believe or are at least concerned with the possibility that a site called Rosso Poker may be a scam. The main concern seems to be that Rosso Poker will not pay out winnings and deposits to their players.
Reports from players indicate that Rosso has no withdrawal method for American players. It also has been reported that they are using the names of companies they are not involved with in their endorsement of their site.
Here is part of a post by Merlin333 of cardschat:
Some people say they do and still will play there, while many others say they will stay away. Please use your own best judgement in deciding where your hard earned money goes. My personal philosophy is that I already do enough gambling at the tables without needing to gamble at the cashier's box as well.
These allegations about Rosso poker remind me a little about the talk about a site called Jungle Poker, if any of you remember that one. For those who don't, Jungle folded up their tents a while back, and apparently left alot of their players out in the rain. However, Rosso poker does still remain open, and I really think that only time will tell the stories of the rise and demise of each individual online poker site.
Whether Rosso is a scam or simply a new site still lining up all their ducks is yet to be seen. The choice to play there is up to you.
Donkhard.com does not endorse Rosso poker. Nor do they accuse Rosso of any wrongdoing. Donkhard.com simply cannot endorse any site until it has been fully tested and approved for the safety and security of our members.
Good luck to you at the tables.

I sent emails to companies they purport to be associated with them.
On RossoPoker's Website, they claim that one of the most respected international accounting firms is associated with their organization Price Waterhouse Coopers. I received this letter (unedited) from that organization. TELL EVERY PLAYER YOU KNOW DON'T PLAY THERE - THEY ARE A FRAUD!!!

Dear Mr. Holt,
Referring to your enquiry regarding the statement on the website of Rosso Poker that PricewaterhouseCoopers is the auditor of the company named RTB Enterprises N.V. , I inform you that this statement is false and without any basis. We have contacted the director of the company and have demanded that our name and logo will be removed from their website within 24 hours.
Thank you for making us aware of this fact.
Kind regards

Killer- thanks for the acknowledgement- here's more
I will mention to Merlin that you posted this- I'm sure he will appreciate it. I also want to bring up sites that try to hack your system. I am not the brightest online surfer! I have tried to download EVERY poker site or forum that I thought might accept me (My mother is a computer teacher, and seems to be able to bail me out of anything so far). In doing so, I have come across MANY that seem shady.
One such site- "Players Only" triggered World War III with my Norton antivirus software. I ran with my tail between my legs. Various other site have popped up things like "Warning! program: 'Trojan', or the infamous tracking cookie detected". How dangerous- and necessary are these programs that scan for connections to other computers?
My first instinct is that if you use the same passwords/screen names on multiple sites-you are just asking for these people to suck your accounts dry. How accountable is a site (assuming you catch them before they go belly up) for doing this, and how often does it occur? The point I'm trying to stress here is: NEVER USE THE SAME PASSWORD ON MULTIPLE SITES! Almost ANY of the info fields required to join a site can be used against you in some way.
A friend of mine says that he had 2 PC's get totally virused beyond repair. Unfortunately, The diagnostitian was the same man who sold him said computers AND their replacements. I don't trust that- Can this really happen?
Also, I mentioned to The Big Donk that he makes himself very accessible to us (he was quite appreciative of the Rosso info)- and seems like salt of the Earth peeps. WTG muleman.
Thanks, Fish

Re: New Online Poker Site Could Be a Scam
I came across a similar warning on another forum. The complaint was that US players can't withdraw, and the reaction was to simply not risk playing there. Thanx for the heads up anyway, Big Donk.

Re: New Online Poker Site Could Be a Scam
Thank you for the head's up warning. I'll stick to the ones that I now play, thank you very much. I have never had any problems with Full Tilt of Ultimate Bet. I don't really like Pokerstars, but I will play there. And Pitbull is a wierd sit, but they have cool freerolls. they never gave me my $10.00 I was supposed to get for signing up through this site, and they will not allow a withdrawl until a deposit is made, but I have not had any problems. All the poker sites involved in the Merge network like to drop cookies and small tracking virus crud, so I won't play on any of those any more (Carbon, Reefer, and a few others) I had some problem with my computor after playing on Reefer, and it sure didn't like when I decided to take it off! So. I guess I'll just stick with Full Tilt, UB, and Pitbull..
I have been paid.
Hi, I am a US player and am the author of the original post, "Rosso Poker Scam." I have since taken the complete post down and re posted the final outcome. I had a problem trying to make my first withdrawal from them. It has since been rectified to my satisfaction.
Pitbull is a site that I've heard too many bad stories about and would never make a deposit there because of that. I feel I was an unfortunate victim of the AP and UB scandals but have no way to prove it so I will never make another deposit to either of those sites.
I was just paid $250.00, via check with no check fee of $50.00 or so that some sites charge, for winning the "Free roll Frenzy" at Crazy Vegas poker" on the Prima/Migrogaming network. I received it in about two weeks. Not bad at all! I was very leery about possibly not being paid as I have lost more money due to site closings and outright fraud by major poker rooms so it was very refreshing to be paid in such a timely manner by Crazy Vegas. What was even better was there was no restriction on my free roll winnings. I withdrew the $250.00 winnings the day after I won it, with no trouble at all. I find that the Microgaming network is very safe and some rooms use Pic Club as a payment method which is great for US players. I am not affiliated with Pic Club but I've used Pic Club many times and they are always very professional and willing to help with anything. That is also refreshing in this day when so many people and companies, (as a whole,) just don't seem to have any concern for others. I would recommend the the Prima/Microgaming network to anyone looking for a safe and fun place to play. I've played on many, many, different online poker sites and find that they are all different in there own way. I like the variety of rooms, games, themes, bonus's, structure, and more that are available on the net. What would help US players to avoid the fraud that is sometimes associated with online gaming, in my opinion, would be to have the US legalize, tax, and regulate online gaming. That would give our rising deficit a MUCH NEEDED BOOST and help keep the criminal element out. Just do your homework before investing your hard earned money into any poker room online and you should be OK. You wouldn't invest in a stock without knowing any of the companies history and probable future, so keep that in mind when INVESTING in an online poker room!

Re: New Online Poker Site Could Be a Scam
I read the same postings, and having been a user of Rosso, I had won a few freerolls, and amassed a small bankroll.Trying to get a payout was impossible, so I questioned in a thread if anyone had actually rec'd a payout from Rosso. I was given the information now listed on this site, and have since gone all in on a ring game (hopefully that person can qualify for a payout...he was from a european country) and taken their software off my computor.
Re: New Online Poker Site Could Be a Scam
Thanks for warning! I'll stick to my favorite sites,Full Tilt,PartyPoker,PokerStars...also have acc on Doyle's,Carbon,Bodog...
This unknown Rosso-Posso stuff will never see my computer.....

Re: New Online Poker Site Could Be a Scam
It seems to me that "All" the sites accepting US players are guilty of a lil' tampering. My judgement is that your shit out off luck in making it far in any tourney because I don't know if it's me, but depending on your stats in a game.... cards are adjusted to weed out junk players. I'm not complaining though. lol
rosso poker
ty for warning it just goes to show it pays to stick to the recommended sites that have been tested

Re: New Online Poker Site Could Be a Scam
thanks for the heads up on rosso poker, never heard of it, glad i didn't. to forum member bigpots i would like you to know that not only does pitbull payout, they do it rather quickly as long as you have made your 200 comp points after depositing. they don't count comp points made before your deposit so that might be the problem you heard about. if you can deal with the inconsistant software there its a pretty good site.

new online poker site could be a scam
I just came across this topic and since It was one of the early sites I found to play on when I really started to get serious about poker(besides the usual large sites) and I have played there since the 1st of September(not so much lately) thought I'd tell of my experiance with them ... ...Rosso poker did not turn out to be a scam...just a small site trying to get it together, they had plentiful freeerolls with only a few hundred players in them and some very decent guarenteed tourny's too and there were a lot of very nice, very cool poker people I met there and plenty of overconfident "euro & baltic" fish to catch.... ..... I played in a number of the daily freerolls made some $$ went on to play in the ring games, buyin's tourny's and sit 'n go's and more freerolls and was able to build up to a sizeable bankroll by the end of the month also by this time I had noticed that they were now listing Pic-club(my fav.)as a deposit /withdrawl method for USA players...so I made a deposit thru my Pic-club account ,waited a week and made my withdrawl. With a little trouble (a phone call and a couple Emails to confirm identity etc.) it went thru back into my Pic-club account and I have had no trouble cashing out since. tho they have gone downhill dramaticlly in regard to the number of and amount offered in the freerolls/guarenteed tourny's an hence the number of players staying on the site to play in other games(can't hardly find a ring game there now or fill enough seats in the tourny's etc.) so I made my last cashout there in march and have not been there much since.
