WSOP & You?
Quick question for the wonderful members here at Donkhard:
How many of you have played, and if you have not already, plan on playing in the WSOP Main Event at least once in your lifetime? I promised myself even if I have to put up the full buy-in that I'll play before I turn 25. I'm turning 23 this July and the wheels are already in motion for the eventual trip to Vegas, as I've started cutting back spending and might even sell my car to further expedite the ascention to the $10,000 buy in plus airfare, hotel expenses, etc. Keep in mind I am still a student and do not work full-time as of yet, so saving that much money in two years after tuition and other amenities will be quite the journey.
This may be a pipe dream to some, but personally I love the game of poker and like all my other passions, I dedicate alot of my extra time to enjoying them to the fullest. Even if I went busto on the first day (worst case scenario), I'd always be able to say I played in the WSOP, shook hands and took pictures with the greatest players in the world, and got a sweet Vegas vacation while doing it.
With a little bit of luck I just may get there yet, here's wishing you all the same.
P.S. How cool would it be to have a Donkhard faction of players competing in the tournament....One day...

$40K? Yikes! That's way too steep of a price for me, I'd sooner use the money as a down payment on a house. You have to live in Toronto to understand the transportation system here. It's just like New York (not quite as complex) or Chicago, with transit buses/street cars/subway trains on literally every corner of the city. I can get from one end of Toronto to the other for only $2.75. A monthly "Metropass" only costs $85, and that allows you to travel freely as many times as you wish within that month. Many of my friends opt for it instead of paying money for a car, insurance, maintenance. I was never a big advocate for public transit, but once I started paying for everything myself I realized the true value of a dollar. But yeah, holy effin crap...$40,000! When the hell did that become buy in? That kinda puts a damper on the dream right now!

Re: WSOP & You?
I have to say that playing in the WSOP would be nice, but it is not on my bucket list. Playing it one even if I won a seat it would cost me money no matter what. Time off from work no vacation pay and no money coming in. Nah just give me the cash for the package and I can spend it on things I need.

Re: WSOP & You?
I def want to play in the main event once. I don't ever plan on buying in to that though. I want to satellite into that event, but I might even cash the ticket in......I def want to play in the 1000 NL ladies event next year though!! I love tournaments and I go to Vegas every other month....I'll probably make that "every other month" land when the 2010 Ladies event is. I have a year to step up my MTT game.....heck yes! =)

Re: WSOP & You?
BTW Where did this 40K figure come into play? It's still $10,000.
And selling my car = not because I want to enter the WSOP, but it's more economically feasible to take public transportation around the city.
LOL Some people took this post way too seriously as if I was going to sell all my possessions just to get entered into the tournament.
I'm speaking about one day in the future where I'll be able to afford the 10k entry without leaving myself with no food, water, power or shelter lol.

The main event is $10K, but there is a no limit hold em event that costs $40K to enter. maybe that is what people are talking about lol.
