Greetings and Donkaments! Empty Greetings and Donkaments!

Post by Not Like Me Sat Mar 14, 2009 8:40 pm

I just wanted to quickly introduce myself to fellow members, site administrators and guests visiting the site. I play periodically at Full Tilt Poker, using the screen name 'LeftyGunner'. I'm a twenty-two year old college student from Toronto, Canada and I manage to squeeze in an hour of ring games/s&g's/mtt's during the weekdays. The weekends are usually spent doing homework, partying or working P/T (the life of a college student) and I find little time to play unless it's a home game with a bunch of friends.

I don't consider poker to be anything other than a hobby at this point, though I've made a decent amount of money (to a struggling college student) in ring games and MTT's. No major cashes at this point in my poker career, although I did place second in the $17,500 guarantee on FTP just under a year ago. I've profited approximately $5000 after factoring tournament and ring game results, which isn't much by Doyle Brunson standards, but we all need to start somewhere.

Living in Toronto, I'm a die-hard Maple Leafs fan (no, not the blind homer-type) and I go to the ACC quite a few times a year for games. I do photography on the side, specializing in automotive vehicles but not limited to one specific subject. Partaking in flying lessons at the moment, I've ridden in helicopters, single-props, turbo-props and commercial aircraft as well. If you've never been for a helicopter ride, I suggest you book one (likely through tourist companies situated at local or international airports). I Played on the varsity hockey team in highschool for four years but ultimately was not elite enough to earn a scholarship to an NCAA school, nor was I drafted by any major junior hockey league. Trust me, life does go on.

If you ever see me around the forums, please feel free to introduce yourself, shoot the breeze or simply say hello. I'm a good natured person by birth and respectful to other humans by nature.

Cheers.

Upon reviewing my post, I've concluded it was entirely too long. Take this maple syrup and 5% beer as a token of my appreciation.

Welcome to Donkhard. That's quite a thorough introduction. I enjoyed the read. Got me thinking, in 842 posts I don't think I've shared so much about myself. Maybe TBD needs a blog.

Just let us know where you are planning to play.... some of us might want to sit on the rail for you and give you some moral support. I can tell you from what time I have been here.... this is the poker forum you want to be a part of. You can have fun and share your experiences... and learn a lot at the same time.

Ladies and gentlemen,

I'd like to start off by thanking each one of you for the warm welcome, it's very appreciated and I assure you the hospitality will be repaid in some form in the near future. I look forward to sharing the virtual felt and discussing topics varying from poker strategy to which type of vinaigrette dressing I prefer on my entree salad.

Living in Toronto has given me a unique perspective on multi-culturalism and the ability to not only embrace your fellow person, but also to familiarize yourself with their respective cultures as to understand and appreciate them for who they are. "Never judge a book by it's cover" -this is a lesson I've failed to heed when selecting a number of paperback novels in my existance. Fortunately for the rest of society, I make sure not to make the same mistake in my every day life.

It's been a pleasure, 'til the next time we meet, take care and stay safe.

Greetings and Donkaments! Empty Super first post

Post by k9ofspades Mon Mar 16, 2009 9:50 am

Ive been a red wing fan since I saw Terry Sawchuck stand on his head one night to beat the leafs 1-0 back in grade four( i loved the goalies). (old enough I remember the last time the Black Hawks won the cup 1961 first one I remember). Just across the lake from you outside of Niagara Falls (St Davids).
Great Results. I'm hoping to be able to supplement my pension but I am not a rock.

Welcome aboard

Regards Guy

P. S. Use to watch Jr A hockey broadcast out of Hamilton.
Trucker first live Nhl game I saw was an exhibition in Hamilton (red wing farm location)with Bobby Orr against Detroit He scored the winning goal.

It's a coincedence you mention the Red Wings, k9spades. The very first game my father ever took me to watch was the Leafs vs the Red Wings at Maple Leaf Gardens. My first memory was walking through the gate towards the ice surface and seeing Sergei Federov with his back turned towards us, but just seeing his name and number up close after watching for years on television was one of the happiest moments I can recall. The game ended up finishing in a 4-4 tie, Wendel Clark scored the tying goal late in the third period and 5 minutes of overtime solved nothing. I've had a special place in my heart for the Wings (even if I won't admit it publically) and I enjoy visiting Motown to take in games as the prices are much cheaper than tickets at the Air Canada Centre (avg. ticket is like $150).

Niagara Falls is a beautiful place too, I try and visit at least once or twice a summer. The ladies are always out in full force come warm weather =)
