Donktown - Population: You
I thought it might be interesting to have various members of the Donkhard community post some interesting facts, stories or pictures in regards to their hometown and/or current city of residence. It might be interesting to compare some of the different towns to see how one lifestyle can vary from the next. If you're not comfortable with posting your city, feel free to post your province or state, or just immerse yourself in the culture of others.
I'll start off with some interesting facts about my hometown and current place of residence, Toronto, Canada. Many of you may already be familiar with Toronto after seeing some great players come out of the city, including Daniel Negreanu, Evelyn Ng, Gavin Smith (technically just outside the city limits in Cambridge/Kitchener area, but I'll include him because of the the close proximity). There have been others that you may not be familiar with, these players include Poorya Nazari (Winner of the Pokerstars Carribean Adventure this past January), Tuan Lam (Runner Up in 2007 WSOP $10,000 World Championship) and Soren Turkewitsch (Winner of WPT North American Championship, Season 5).
Because of the close proximity to four of the major casinos in Southern Ontario (Fallsview, Casino Niagara, Blue Heron & Casino Niagara), the estimated 8.5 million residents of what is known as "The Golden Horseshoe" (a densely populated and industrialized region centred around the western end of Lake Ontario with outer boundaries stretching south to Lake Erie and north to Georgian Bay), have a wonderful opportunity to hone their games via tourists coming into Niagara Falls for the weekend, mainly U.S. visitors looking to gamble at a younger age (19 is the legal gambling age in Ontario). Living in a city with a population of about 6,000,000 also give you a chance to make new friends with the same love for poker you do, and a game is easy to come by. Reminds me of Rounders to be quite honest with you.
We have many major sports teams included the Maple Leafs, Raptors, Blue Jays and Toronto FC. None of the teams are competitive at the moment, which has made for a very disappointing few seasons as a fan. Luckily I began playing Proline and since then my nightly heartbreaks have been replaced by the odd payout. I do however remember Joe Carter hitting the lead off home run in the bottom of the 9th to beat the Phillies in 1993, and when Vince Carter showing the world how a dunk contest was supposed to go. We're plotting our return. I hope...
To lead off, I figured I'd throw in a few pictures to those who aren't familiar and I wish you all the best on today's virtual felt. Cheers.

Re: Donktown - Population: You
i get my name from my city, philadelphia, which is sometimes called illadel because its not the nicest neighborhood. we have broke our record of cops murdered last year and on pace of breaking the record again. on a lighter note, we broke our championship drought last year with the world champion phillies bringing it home finally. we probably have more history here than any city in the country, first capital of the united states, where the declaration of independence was signed, and where betsy ross sewed the first american flag. edgar allen poe wrote his greatest works including the raven here also, not baltimore. this is a big time sports town, where we are taught at a young age to hate the cowboys. i would show pictures but someone just stole my camera, just kidding.

Re: Donktown - Population: You
When Chase Utley said "World Fucking Champions!", that pretty much summed up the perceived "rough and tough" lifestyle that most outsiders have of Illadelphians. I once read Philly was the national leader in homicide rate per capita (which may be incorrect as I cannot remember the exact source of the article), which is completly insane if you step back and think about it. Toronto had 52 people die by the gun in 2005 and the media was up in arms and coined the phrase "Year of the Gun". Crime happens here just as in every other city, but the vast majority of our citizens live peaceful lifestyles and being an innocent bystander of crime is extremely unlikely if you're minding your own business.
On a lighter note, as a Canadian citizen we don't often touch up on our American history and some of the facts you posted were pretty intereresting. Philly always had some prime time sports stars, my favorites were always Iverson and Lindros. Not sure if the mentioning of T.O. brings ravenous feelings of violence but I did hear the boos he received in his first game back - almost as bad as the ones V.C. got when he came back with the Nets. I remember it was in Philly where Tie Domi got into an altercation with a drunk fan and tossed the guy some shots after he fell into the penalty box!
