Re: crackers for 5 dollars
as the story goes (many out there with slightly different details), an old woman put 10k into an envelope, and placed it in a box of crackers. she then proceeded to return the box of crackers to the store where she bought them. the store resealed the box without checking its contents, and resold it.
and issue is whether the money should have been returned? ... what a competent species we are!

I'd have thought it a gift for me and kept it. Paid some bills and gone to Vegas with a grand to weedle the weekend away.
Re: crackers for 5 dollars
being how times are how they are economicly. i wouldn t want to lose any money and would be more than grateful if someone who did find it, and it was mine, turned it in... but how is the store going to know who's it is? what are they going to do with it? i think if it was turned over to the police, if not claimed within a certain amount of time, you would lay claim to it and have a lawful right to it. i would probably feel better getting it that way than just keeping it. even though it would be tempting, but right is right. you do good things good things happen, you do bad things chit hits the fan

Re: crackers for 5 dollars
I'm going to start buying more crackers. If I happen to find $10K in a box of 'em, there's no way I'm handing that over to anyone. Anyone irresponsible to leave a bundle in a box of crackers must not feel that strongly about it. I'll put it to good use.
Then again, maybe I'm just tough talking. Last time I saw a guy drop 5 bucks in front of me at Long's, I picked it up and gave it back to him. I could've pocketed it; he never would have known. But giving it back just seemed like the right thing to do.
But then again...again... $10K is alot more than $5. I'm all over the place, I don't know what I'd do. Tell you what. Somebody leave a box of crackers with $10K in it on my front porch... then we'll find out for sure.

If we made up some good looking counterfeit dough and put it in a cracker box for ya and didn't tell you it was fake... would that be a good enough test?
I had an experience once where I lost my wallet. I had $62 in it when I lost it and went back and over everything, but couldn't find it. About a week later it came in the mail! Somebody found it and put it in one of those blue outside mail boxes. The post master sent it to me.... it had only the $2 left out of the $62! Everything else was still in it...... and guess what... it came to me with $1.98 postage due!! LMAO!!
