Listen to this poker blunder of the year
A close friend of mine was at the final table in the second to the last stage of a WSOP seat series. (online) The top f5 advanced to the final He was in 3rd, trailing only by a couple thousand. His first hand at the final was AA. The flop comes up K K A. Before the action gets to him the two chip leaders push all in. His heart raced. This hand would give him the chip lead with 10 times the chips as anyone else. When the action finally came to him his mouse somehow caught on the corner of the mousepad and clicked the fold button instead.

Re: Listen to this poker blunder of the year
It's odd to find this listing first as this type of hand was my first bad beat. It's also the first time I played online poker.
I didn't know what I was doing. I had just deposited $25 onto players only poker because that's the only one that would take my debit card.
I sat down and quickly doubled my money a couple times.
I left those tables and sat down at the $1/2 no limit tables. I had no clue of course that I didn't belong there.
I'm not sure how it exactly happenend, but ignorance is bliss... I hit some hands real hard and ended up in some big pots with trash hands.
I had $879 easily within the first hour.
Then I'm holding ace X to this flop but I get another ace on the turn. So I have Full house Aces over Kings. Villian had raised the flop so I knew he had a king but now with Aces over kings I didn't see my hand getting beat.
At the end of the push, I learned my first real lesson in poker.
Some hands/Timing are just too good to be true. My opponent had 2 more kings by the way.
I'm sure this person is still crying since the hand probably didn't go as mine.
Ya, that's a tough fold.

I think we've probably all made a mistake like that at some point... hopefully a MUCH smaller one that this.
But that's a tough one to swallow.

Re: Listen to this poker blunder of the year
I was in a $260 tourney @ a local casino and there 3 ppl to go before we were in the money. The blinds were 4,000 / 8,000 with a 1,000 ante and I had a nice stack - about 380,000. I limped into a pot w/ aces and the flop came As Ac 5c. The other fellow goes all in and I immediately call and he shows 2c Kc. The turn brings the 4c and the river delivers the 3c for a straight flush. He had me covered by 3,000 and I was sent home w/ a f'ed up bad beat story. He went out on the bubble by the way, which made me sleep a little better.
Other times my flopped trips get beat by runner-runner for straights, and 1 time my quad queens were beat by quad kings, but my cracked aces r unforgettable. Nothing you can do but play another hand I guess.

I would, for sure, smash my mouse and keyboard if that happened to me!That kind of hand doesn't come every day,and especially not on final table with stakes like this!

dang quads beat by a runner runner straight flush sounds like it could only happen on rosanne lol Damn that would be a great time for a bad beat jack pot.

Re: Listen to this poker blunder of the year
I recently lost with quads to a straight flush and won against quads with a straight flush. Both of which were online, of course. With no bad beat. Wow, it just dawned on me that I could say this. I play way to much poker.
Funny how these hands play out so differently online.

Re: Listen to this poker blunder of the year
The absolutely funniest online story happened one night on fulltilt. I was playing on one of my husbands laptops in his office at home. I don't remember why I wasn't in my office this particular night, I wasn't as if we were working on something together because we were both in our own worlds, at least I was.
I had a few games going but I was paying more attention to the paperwork I was working on. My husband was just a few feet away, playing several games of his own. I could tell he wasn't having a good night because he kept cussing and swearing at the computer (other players). This went on for quite some time. I just ignored him, engrossed in what I was doing and happy I was doing well.
I was doing very well as a matter of fact. It didn't matter what I played, it would hit. So I called an all in, on the flop, with something ridiculous. And sure as shit I hit runner runner and took pocket aces out.
Simutaniously me and my husband said.....you would not believe this hand! I turned to look at him, he was looking at me and with fire in his eyes. "YOUR THE %$#&*^%*& *^%$$&^%%^^!"
It turns out I was the asshole he had been complaining about for so long. Neither of us had realized it.
