Straddling!
I was watching some HIGH STAKES poker last night and one of the first questions they asked each other was does anyone want to straddle the pot? Apparently, you have to win with on the first river and then a second river card ! If not, the pot is split. My question is .. Does this happen at alot of casinos or is it a TV gimmick?

Re: Straddling!
This is my basic understanding.
Run it: (run it twice) (deal it) (deal it twice) (doing business)
When one player is All in.
Both players agree to run the cards more then once (2 times or 3 times or more).
If this is on the Flop the Turn and River are run.
If this is on the Turn the River is run.
The card or cards are dealt a certain number of times and the first cards determine only a portion of the pot. Discarding those cards and dealing the cards again for the other portion of the pot.
Straddle: (in the dark) (blind bet)
A blind bet made by a player before receiving his cards.
Live Straddle
The table agrees on a live straddle.
The player Under the Gun is agreed to make a blind bet. The player placing the straddle becomes last to act PreFlop and has the option to raise.
The general purpose is to liven up the game and increase the pot size.
Straddles to my knowledge are not allowed in tournaments.
Rules on the above may vary depending where you play.
When in doubt ask.
If there is a "straddle the pot" and it has a different definition then the above, it's something I have never heard of before.

Your Welcome and I agree the first time you see it played like that your mind is going what the #$!@ is going on here.
Some players like Phil Jerome Hellmuth Jr. like to run it several times to even out the pain.
I personally would rather make my decision and let be what is to be.
Take all the pleasure or feel all the pain.
Glory or Defeat.
Great question
