Badugi - the Korean poker
(I really didn't know where else to post this topic)
Hey, did you happen to play this variation of poker? Since there is a
Badugi freeroll at Carbon, I often tend to play that game. Anyway, in
my oppinion, it's a much more luck-based game than Hold'em or Omaha for
example, where the skills of the player are vital.
In shortly,
Badugi is somekind a hybrid between 2-7 Triple Draw and Razz, as far as
the changing cards and betting rounds are concerned. Still there are
some differences. Badugi is played with only 4 pocket cards and no
board, just like in the good old 5 Card Draw. The best Badugi hand is
A-2-3-4 offsuit (that hand is called "Badugi", whatever that word
means). The aim is to make the best possible hand, using as much low
cards as possible, but they have to be of different suits.
Anyway,
I won't be explaining Badugi's rules in details, since there are
already plenty of articles on it. I was just wondering if somebody else
here finds that game interesting.

Re: Badugi - the Korean poker
Hey shnura,
I find Badugi to be interesting too. I think I like it mainly because
I am burned out on Hold'Em. Plus, it is nice to have something
different to learn. I have been playing it at Poker Stars
as well as 2-7 Triple Draw. Thanks for mentioning the freeroll
at Carbon. I was not aware of that one.
Good luck with it and have fun.
