Ouch. I can appreciate how nasty that happened. You didn't do a single thing wrong, either... he just happened to hit that on the flop, and (to his credit) played it as though he had any one of several second-best hands (until the river). His bet of 60 on the flop was the only thing suspicious, but it could have been so many things. Odds made folding a mistake and then your doom card hit. Totally rainbow too... that means he's either a weak player / holdem crossover (totally possible early in a tourney for a donk to hit 5k) who thought straight could be good with pair on board, or he had a full house or better... but how'r you going to guess at the "or better" part...

Curious if anything else could possibly have hit on the turn that would have made you stay in till showdown. Perhaps if a club hit (and you know he'd bet small no matter what hit) the turn. Of course, if the river was the same and the turn was the 10c, he'd be posting how he lost with 8888 for trying to let you make a flush/boat and sandbagging.

Also first post, welcome forum seems a little... slow and overtopic'd, so I skipped it, but I like what I've read of the forum so far, this seems like a cool little community, no jerks in sight... so yeah, hi and stuff Smile

did the extra time he took in calling on the flop..lead you to beleive he didnt hit?was that a factor?i see it as a well played hand by both players, but i am wondering if the extra time taken by the player lead you to beleive he was calling on a draw?
